Destroying my art – a therapeutic process

I have been destroying my art. It’s too much for my small apartment, and I need to make new ones. This process has been very good for my mood ngl. I feel lighter as I throw away the old, to make way for the new. This is the perfect way to welcome new art, new ideas and even new life (no, I yam NAHT preggos)!

I’ve been painting a new piece. I don’t know why I always have to wait till it’s typhoon 8 or above to start painting on bigger canvases. The previous one was about the rat race. On the left are lines of different colored paints, representing the matrix, “bright lights bigger city” kind of vibes. My dear friend Debra gave it meaning. That the left is a place where everyone is running. But they don’t know what for. They are told to never leave the hedge. That it’s “dangerous” on the other side. When in reality, the right side is like an ocean. Broad, beautiful, giving and peaceful. It can be an ocean, or a sky filled with different colored clouds. It is up to your interpretation. I started painting a new piece in different shades of red, pink, tan, brown and gold. Then I realized I can do four seasons. Many people saw summer and fall in the beginning of the piece. I added a green section, representing spring. I will soon add winter and summer/fall. This art work can be attributed to. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The beauty of the four seasons in a year is worth being marveled at.

In Chinese we have a profound and beautiful saying: Flowers may bloom again, but one never returns to youth (花有重開日,人無再少年). You will never be any younger than you are today. So grab on, hold tight and buckle up! You really do live only once! #YOLO
